Celebrating National Honey Bee Day at Founding Farmers Tysons
It has been another exciting year partnering and raising awareness about honey bees with Sweet Virginia! Sweet Virginia, located nearby in Nokesville, VA, is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire and educate children about the lifecycle of honey bees and the critical role they play in pollinating plants, fruits, and vegetables, and the overall positive (and much needed!) impact they have on our environment.
With sunflower season in full bloom, we are thrilled to have our in-house sunflower display up and available for our guests to enjoy. Also, in celebration of National Honey Bee Day, observed every third Saturday of August, we are featuring The Bee’s Knees cocktail from Monday, August 15th – Sunday, August 22nd.
Did you know?
- Honey bees never sleep!
- To make one pound of honey, the bees in the colony must visit two million flowers, fly over 55,000 miles, and will be the lifetime work of approximately 768 bees.
- Native, unmanaged pollinators—primarily bees—are estimated to contribute $3 billion to the value of crops pollination in the U.S.
Come join us all week, soak in the beautiful sunflowers, and taste for yourself the delicious hard work of bees!
